Harold was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 13, 1954. He grew up on Chicago’s Northside where he attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Waller High School. Harold later served in the United States Army.

Harold was affectionately known and had a zest for life. He was a friendly man and a compassionate father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for various construction companies for many years until his health declined.

Harold Collins made his transition on May 15, 2017, at the age of 63. He is preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Karen Jackson-Collins; his parents, Willie James Phillips and Mayzell Collins; three sisters, Evonne and Geraldine Collins, and Dorothy Jackson; two brothers, Leonard and Eddie Collins.

Harold is survived by his sisters; Mary Gross (Sidney), and Darlene Collins; his daughters: Tawana “Tink” Hardnick (Derrick), Taquanda “Bee” Williams (Ronnie), Taketia “Woman” Ware (Michael) Lavita Collins. His son Harold Collins Jr, and Javier (Beefy) Jackson; his grandchildren: Lajuan “Granddaddy Cane”, Tierra “Pretty Mama”, Brandon “BFine”, Alexia “Lex”, Derrick J. “Lil Pigtail”, Demaiya, “Ms. Molly”,  Michael Jr. “Michael the Lover”, Jaylen “Jaylen the Playa”, Jeveah “Harlena”, and Javier Jr. “Big Poppa”, two great grandchildren, Miyonna  “Jellyfish” and Lajuan Jr. “June Bug”    and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

As we celebrate the homecoming of Harold Collins to our Father Almighty, it is in loving spirit that we remember: Those we love can never be more than a thought away…. For as long as there’s a memory they live in our hearts to stay.
