Cecil Eugene Mackins was born on July 25, 1954 to Cecil Wayne and Carrie Jean Mackins. He departed this life on April 5, 2018 with his wife by his side. Cecil graduated from Meredian High School in Mound, IL where he was a member of the basketball team. He moved to Joliet in the 70s. He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company and Apollo Colors. He was a welder, a plumber, electrician, carpenter and of course a car mechanic. He was a master of many trades. Cecil loved fishing (his favorite sport). He got great joy in helping others. Cecil accepted Christ in 2008 under the leadership of Pastor Warren C. Dorris, Jr. where he served until 2011. He then became a member of The Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Hodges. He loved doing whatever there was to do around the church. He worked diligently and faithfully until he became ill. Even then he said the Pastor needed him to work. Cecil and Dolorita were married on February 14, 2009 after they both gave their life to Christ. It was at the encouragement of their son Brandon that they attend church as a family when God saved them both. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil Wayne and Carrie Jean Mackins; two brothers, Robert E. Mackins and Herbert Van Mackins. Cecil is survived by his wife, Dolorita Dorris Mackins; three sons, Marcus Eugene Robinson ( Williamsburg, VA), Reggie Young (Chicago, IL) and Brandon Christopher Warren Wayne Mackins (Joliet, IL) his dad named him; one daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Crowder ( Joliet, IL); three sisters, Emmer (Joseph) Tucker (Lockport, IL), Florence (Clerance) Roddy (Paducah, KY), Gearldine Mackins (Newport, TN); two brothers, Ulysses (Sally) Miller (Rantoul, IL) and Terry Mackins (Leroy, IL); six grandchildren, Deonta Robinson, Johnna Garrett, Kohlton Crowder, Kierra Towns, Najah Edgar; one great-grandon, C.J. So very sorry to hear of the passing of Cecil. He was always a bright spot of my day when he would come in for his treatments. I loved seeing his smile even on the days he wasn't feeling well. Prayers to you all.
