Arthur Loggins Obituary

Arthur was born April 14, 1948 in Belzoni, Mississippi. He was the second oldest of nine children born to the union of Alex and Elnora Loggins. Arthur entered the doors of his heavenly home on Thursday, March 21, 2024

Arthur accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Blocker, Pastor Harris, Pastor James W. Walton and remained a member under the leadership of Pastor Richard D. House. He attended and graduated from Fairmont School District 89 and Lockport Township. He moved to Washington, DC where he worked for Metro until he retired. Then he packed his bags and moved back home to Illinois in his childhood home.

Arthur was a gentle giant. He loved his family with every being that he had and always wanted what was best for them. Also wanted his family to know that family is important and all we have. He was humble, wise, giving, loving, an encourager, kind, love to crack jokes and cherished his peace and quiet as well as his peace of mind. He had a pure heart of gold, God truly broke the mold after he created him. He meant what he said and said what he meant. His love for people and family was so contagious that he never met a stranger. To him, once you met his family you were family. His favorite things to do were to listen to his blues while fishing! Watching his beloved Bears, Chicago Med, Fire & PD, The Equalizer. He also had a love for baking and cooking. He was very independent and when his journey of life took a turn he never once complained about any of it. He fought through and took it like the champ that he was. He walked by faith and trusted God through it all not one time did he waiver, complain or get mad. Because of his demonstration of Faith and trust in God to his family there was nothing he couldn’t do or conquer.

Arthur is now enjoying heaven with his parents, Alex and Elnora Loggins, Brothers: Vernard, Calvin and Levi Loggins; Sisters: Teresa Loggins-Holiday, Vera Leja Loggins-Clayton and Adriana Loggins; Grandson Kenneth L. Nelson; Nephew U.S. Marine Sergeant Manuel Loggins, Jr. Great-Niece, Anttasia Jones; Great-Nephew, De’Monta Pettis and Brother-In-Law, Richard Jones, Sr.

Arthur leaves his most cherished memories to his children Tomanuel (Pamela) Loggins and Christian Loggins. Grandchildren, Dominique Crosby, DeAndre Loggins, Jacqueline Nelson and Tijera Loggins. Great Granddaughter, Demetria Pinnick, Sisters, Betty Jones and Essie Loggins. Nieces: Tracy Jones, Stacy (Richard) Thomas, December (Timothy) Willis, Nephews: Richard (Christina) Jones, Anthony and Alex Jones, Stephen (Rachel) Clayton, Jarvis and Alex Holiday. Numerous Great Nieces, Nephews and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.

He will be missed by his neighbors as they were not just neighbors they were family and took care of one another: E. HopeThigpen-McElrath, Mother Starks and Elaine Starks. Special friends: Judy Bills, Robertia Dunning and childhood friend, James Alston (Joliet) who stopped by often to sit and visit with him; Plina Doyle, Zora Hazelton, Pat Robertson (Maryland) and his lifelong best friend and brother, Kenneth (Janis) Cook (Maryland).

We were so blessed to have a beautiful definition of love in our lives for 75 years. Arthur touched so many lives and if he knew you needed something he would do his best to help you get it. Arthur will be missed. A huge void has been left in the hearts to all who knew and loved him!

A memorial celebration for Arthur will be at a later date.
