Clifford McFarland, "Sash" Obituary

Celebrating the life of Clifford W. McFarland who was born on July 4, 1948 in Joliet, Illinois to Pierson and Georgie McFarland.  Our loved one passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024 in Chandler, Arizona.

Clifford accepted Christ at an early age at the Children church in Lockport, Illinois.  He graduated from Fairmont Grade School and Lockport Township High School.  He also attended Joliet Jr. College where he was pursuing his education to be a mechanic, because of his love for cars.  He was drafted into into the United States Army, where he served several years with a Honorable Discharge with Bronze Star, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, Army Commendation, Combat Infantry medals.  After serving in the army, employed at several companies the Joliet Arsenal, Texaco Oil refinery 10 years and retired with 30 years at Citgo Petroleum Oil Refinery.  

He rededicated his life to God in 1990 was baptized at Shiloh M.B. Church in Lockport, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Richard D. House.  At Shiloh he attended Sunday School was in the male chorus and men ministry where he remained a faithful servant.  Continuing in his call to follow Christ on August 29, 2021 his son, Apostle Brandon Dorris ordinated him Deacon Clifford McFarland at Faith River Church in Arizona.  

Also in 1990 he met the love of his life (Lisa) and married her in 1992.  To this marriage union of 31 years, 7 children blended together as MAC 7 aka Team McFarland. 

He had a great love for cars, bowling, playing golf and was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan. 

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents, Pierson and Georgie; his brother, Pierson Jr.; his grandson, Demarious; his sister-in-law, Angela and brothers-in-law, McCoy and Eric.  

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories: the love of his life wife; Lisa Johnson-McFarland;  seven children;  Quentin, Erik (Felicia), Erika, Jada (Dray), Brandon (Savitri), Byron and Jamilla McFarland; 26 grandchildren, 7 great-grand children; two brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd McFarland and sister, Beverly Wellons; three brother-in-laws; Timothy Johnson, Anthony Flournoy and Thomas Christopher (Monique) Leverette; sister-in-laws; Bertha McFarland and Carletha Flournoy.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of special friends; Earl Beavers, Joe Gombosi, Arthur Roberts, Oscar Pope, James Price, Henry Edwards, Stan Farries and Ralph Banta.
