Maggie Bacon-Schultz was born on January 10, 1949, in Pickens Mississippi to the late Sam Moore and Rosie Lee Bacon. She made her heavenly transition in her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Maggie was very young when her parents passed away, leaving her maternal grandmother, Kizzie Estelle and her uncle, Sylvester Bacon the illustrious role of caregivers to her and her three siblings.
Maggie graduated from Velma Jackson High School in Camden, MS in 1966. After high school she moved to Joliet, IL and began working in the medical field. She later began her career at Caterpillar Inc. While working at Caterpillar, she enrolled in Joliet Junior College Caterpillar’s Engineer's Program Class. After four years, she graduated receiving her Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice Certification. Maggie retired from Caterpillar in May 2004.
Maggie accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church in Pickens, MS under the leadership of Pastor B.T Miles. Later in life she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Joliet IL under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Isaac Singleton, Sr. where she served as a dedicated Nurse until her health began to fail.
June 1982, Maggie welcomed into the world her handsome son, Justin Rainey. Maggie was a protective mother who worked hard to assure Justin was cared for and loved. Through the years they enjoyed building different projects, dining at different restaurants, and watching stand-up comedy together. She loved her son with all her heart and soul, and unconditionally. She also loved her family and close friends.
Maggie was very intelligent and easily caught your attention when she entered the room with her beautiful skin and smile. Maggie United in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Stanley Schultz II in 1998. Together they enjoyed traveling the world, hanging out with family, spending time with their grandchildren, cooking and eating.
Throughout her life Maggie loved gardening, took pride in education, mastered cooking for her family, indulged in shopping (especially at TJ Maxx), she conquered bowling, found passion in finding new projects to take on, and she truly found peace in staying home entertaining her family and friends.
Maggie was a giver. If you needed anything she would always be there to help anyone in need; although sometimes it came with stipulations, you may have had to write her an essay or present a proposal on why you needed the help, but once you presented a well written case, she fulfilled the request. Maggie had a stern demeaner, a warm loving heart and beautiful smile that caught hearts and changed the lives of many.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Moore and Rosie Lee Trust; nine siblings, Sam Moore Jr, Jesse B. Moore, George Moore, Albert Moore, James Moore, Otis Moore, Emma Lee Moore and Icy Della (nee Moore) Jackson and Kizzie Cameron.
Maggie leaves to cherish her life and celebrate her memory: her husband, Stanley Schultz; son, Justin Rainey; stepsons, Stanley Schultz and Eric (Gabi) Schultz; two brothers, Harrison Bacon and Jesse (Charles) Bacon; goddaughter, Kiziah Cameron; nine grand-children and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
