Taheshia Smith Obituary

Taheshia Moniek Smith, affectionately known as "Taco" was born on July 24, 1975 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois to Shirley Nicholson and Douglas (deceased) Smith of Joliet, Illinois.  A step-father, William Ojay Tyler of Joliet, Illinois who she lovingly called, "POPS".

God called Taco home on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Taheshia is the second oldest of four siblings. Taheshia was baptized March 10, 1996 at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Joliet, Illinois.  She later received the Holy Ghost in June of 1999.

Taheshia graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1993.  After graduating high school, Taheshia had various jobs.  Taheshia then found her passion, when she began working for Trinity Services with the Developmentally Delayed.  She was a very had compassionate worker for 20 plus years.  Taco was employed with Trinity Services until the Lord called her home.

She enjoyed writing poems and spending time with family and friends.  Taheshia "LOVED" her family.  She would give you her last two dollars if someone in her family was in need.  To know her was to "LOVE" her, she "LOVED HARD".

Taheshia was a strong loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Taheshia was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Smith; her grandparents, James and Chancielee Nicholson; her brother, Curtis (Curtwood) Sherrod and aunt "Granny" Barbara Shelby.

Taheshia Smith leaves to cherish her memory; two loving daughters, Kartajma (Kavonte) Johnson of Joliet, IL, Kurtanya Thompson of Joliet, IL; three grandchildren that she adored and loved to spoil, Kay'Lonnie Thompson, Jo'Siah Wallance and Kaleb Johnson.  Taco happily anticipated a soon to be a fourth grandchild, Kameron Johnson.

Taheshia also leaves to cherish and mourn her memory, two loving sisters, Rhonda Smith-Cooper of Conyers, GA and Tomeca (Michael) Johnson of Plainfield, IL; one brother, Willie Tyler Jr. of Cooperas, TX; two honorary brothers, Justin Davis of Joliet, IL and Brian Richards of Joliet, IL; Taco's first niece, Keya Cooper of Albany,GA; nieces, Mykah Johnson of Dallas, TX, Nevaeh Balcazor of Joliet, IL; three nephews, Michael (Grace) Johnson Jr. of North Liberty, IA, Keyon Cooper of Conyers, GA and Mickeis Johnson of Plainfield, IL; three uncles, Stevenson (Michelle) Nicholson of Normal, IL, James H. (Eva) Nicholson of Joliet, IL and Robert Nicholson of Joliet, IL; two special cousins, Kassy Shelby of Joliet, IL and Gayla Ellis of Joliet, IL.  Taheshia also had a host of great friends that enjoyed her company.  She was the life of every event.
