Eric Ellis Woodrow Travis was born on August 25, 1989 at Hinsdale Hospital to Pamela Ervin and Charles Travis, Jr. At a very early age. Eric accepted Christ at an early age and continued in his faith, Eric developed a love for the game of basketball. He joined an AAU Traveling team that was coached by his father, Charles Travis, Jr. That was the gateway that led to him play High School Basketball.
He attended Hinsdale South High School from 2004-2008. He played Varsity level as an incoming Freshman and by the time he was a Senior, he averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game. Also as a Senior, he set the school record with 308 rebounds in a season and ranks second with 727 career boards. He was two-time all-conference player and two-time all-area selection. He went on to receive a full scholarship at Mercyhurst University and attended there from 2008-2010. In 2011 He transferred to Rochester Institute of Technology where they also offered him a full scholarship. While playing for RIT he averaged 10.3 points per game, led team with 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Overall by the end of season he dropped a career-high 23 points, led the team with 27 blocks, had 23 steals, and shot 49.5 percent from the field. He was entered into the 2013 NBA draft.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ellis and Barbara Ervin.
He departed this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories; his parents, Charles Travis, Jr. and Pamela Ervin; his siblings, Demetrice Wheeler (Shawn), Maurice Holman, Erica Washington (Dee), Kimberly Travis (Edmond), Elexis Travis, and Chase Travis; his grandparents, Charles Travis, Sr. and Della Travis; his TT, Kimberly Ervin and uncles, Dejordan and Dejuan Ervin who were very vital to his upbringing; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
