Glenn Grffin Jr. Obituary

Glenn Edward Griffin, Jr. was born to Glenn and Ollie Griffin on March 27, 1937 at the Cook County Children's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  Both preceded him in death.  He had one sister, Betty Ann Hudson who also preceded him in death.  Glenn passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

Glenn joined the Church of God in Christ at an early age in Altgeld Garden.

Glenn attended elementary school both in Illinois and in Michigan.  He also attended Carver High School in Chicago, Illinois.  After graduating from Carver High, Glenn attended Wilson Junior College where he studied auto air conditioning.

On September 17, 1954, Glenn joined the United States Army and took basic training at Fort Shaffey, Arkansas. Once in the army, he was relocated to Fort Knox, Kentucky for tank training.  That began his traveling of the world.  During his service in the army, Glenn was able to go placed: Germany, Amsterdam, Holland-Copenhagen, Demark.  He joined the Navy and was reassigned to Washington, D.C., then to Potomac River, Maryland.  He went to Gentimore, Bay Cuba - Castro was still in the hills.  There he did construction work for the Navy and Marines (CB's).  Then back to Davisville, Rhode Island.  He left there and went to Roda, Spain.  Then he flew to Washington, D.C. and on the San Francisco, California and Hawaii.

Glenn flew to Canton Island, Fiji and on to Christ Church New Zealand and on to the Antarctic to bu8ild the first atomic reactor at the South Pole.  After building the reactor, he flew back to Davisville, Rhode Island to be discharged.

Glenn worked for Navistar and  retired from the Company a a Welder and Machinist in June 1993.

Glenn liked sports, jazz, the History Channel and Military Channel.

On July 3, 1965, Glenn married Yvonne Stewart; they were married for 54 years.  To this union two children were born. Glenda E. Griffin and Glenn E. Griffin III, both preceded him in death.

Glenn lived a full life and leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories; his wife, Yvonne J. Griffin; grandchildren, Jeremie G.E. Grivvin IV, Kayla J.G. Griffin and Kyra S. Rolling; brother-in-law, Hubert L. ills, Clarence Hunt, Jr. (Charlotte), Leroy J. Hunt (Sandy) and Norris A. Hunt (Katie); sisters-in-law, Betty Bryant, Frances Hunt and Beverly J. Jackson (Willie); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
