James W. Walton, Jr., affectionately known as “J.W.” was born January 17, 1943 in Joliet, Illinois to James W. Walton, Sr. and Lorraine Armstrong (nee Jenkins).
He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, Illinois under the leadership of his father, the late Pastor James W. Walton, Sr. He later joined Prayer Tower Ministries Church of God in Christ and served under the leadership of Pastor Warren C. Dorris, Jr. until his health failed and he was no longer able to attend. J.W. attended Fairmont Grade School and graduated from Lockport High School.
J.W. worked for Caterpillar Tractor as a machine operator and retired after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed traveling and was a great lover of sports and luxury cars.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Armstrong; father, Pastor James W. Walton, Sr.; step-mother, Rose Walton; grandparents, Frances Johnson-Thomas and Lewis Thomas.
J.W. passed away peacefully at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois on Friday, November 29, 2019.
J.W. leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories; two sons, Erik (Kimberly) Walton of Oregon, IL and James Ray Walton, Sr. of Joliet, IL; one brother, Kevin Walton of Lockport, IL; step-sister, Arnetta Meeks of Aurora, IL; loving companion, Norine King and her daughter, Osha King; seven grandchildren, Tina Rose, Jaime Rose, James Ray Walton, Jr., Lorraine Edwards, Katlyen (Michael) Adams, William Walton and Keziah Walton; great grandchildren, Michael Adams and Aliyah Adams, six additional great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
