Kenneth Johnson Obituary

KENNETH JOHNSON JR. (a/k/a Joliet Kenny)

Kenneth Johnson Jr., was born July 13, 1955 in Joliet, Illinois to George and Gertha Johnson whom both preceded him in death.

Kenny was the oldest son and the sixth of eight children born to this union.

Kenny died September 1, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois on his father’s birthday.

Kenny was educated in the Joliet School system.  He went on to get an associate of science from Lincoln College, a bachelor of general studies from Roosevelt University.  He obtained his CDL driver’s license from Joliet Junior College and various certificates from Lakeland College.

Kenny accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois.  Kenny was employed on various jobs; delivering meds, taxi driver, many warehouses, but the job he most enjoyed was taking disabled veterans back and forth to their appointment at the VA Hospital.  Kenny was employed at Hines Veteran Hospital in Maywood, IL.

You could find Kenny fishing or working and shining his car.  He loved old school music, jazz, blues, love ballads and every once in a while he would make a few dance moves.  He had a gift for gab and telling tall tales to make you laugh.  He will be missed.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertha Johnson; two sisters, Georgia Penn Parish and Deloris King.

He is survived by three sisters, Thelma (Willie) Riley, Marilyn Collins and Patricia Johnson; two brothers, Milton, Terry Wayne (Debbie) Johnson; 11 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles; one special brother-in-law, Bobby Parish; a very special friend, Barbara Buckner.
