Marion affectionately known as “Mae” was born June 4, 1933, in Joliet, IL, to the union of John Edmon Sr. and Ellen (Holly) Edmon. She was one of eight children. Marion passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, after a long battle with dementia.
Marion was a lifelong resident of Joliet, spending her early years on North Scott Street. She was active in neighborhood softball games and was a mentor to younger children. She graduated from Joliet Township High School class of 1952, and attended Joliet Junior College.
She met her future husband when they were teenagers during her neighborhood softball games and they married in 1955. To this union three children were born, Terry, Jerry, and Sean. Marion retired from AT&T in Montgomery, IL in 1989 after 20 years of service. Marion was a kind and generous woman who opened her home to relatives that needed a temporary place to live.
She started attending Brown Chapel when the church was located on Scott Street and continued faithfully until her health failed.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Vird, Tommy, Frank Sr., and Oscar.
She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of 63 years, Tommy; her children, Terry of Birmingham, AL, Jerry (Vickie) of Prairieville, LA, and Sean of Aurora, IL; eight grandchildren, Marques, Terrell, Meghann, Terry Jr., Aaron, Terrance, Thomas, and Jamyah; six great-grandchildren, Jerimiah, Krista, Kasi, Teri, Connor, and Maci; one sister, Opal Boozer; one brother, Joe (Connie) Edmon; sisters-in-Law, Ceola Edmon and Dororthy Edmon, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
