Nebraska Davenport, affectionately known as “Sister” was born on May 7, 1936 in Isola, Mississippi to Mary Anderson.
Nebraska was a member of St. Mark C.M.E Church of Joliet, IL, until her health began to fail.
Nebraska worked at Morey Corporation of Downers Grove, IL, for over thirty years.
Nebraska learned to drive later in life; she would “sit tall” in her car with pillows behind her back!
She loved her family and it was shown in many ways.
She made a “mean” Lemon Pie: her favorite recipe, she shared with many, but none could compare to her “Creation”.
Nebraska will be missed by many. She fought a good fight and did not complain.
Nebraska departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Nebraska was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Davenport, Sr. 4 Brothers: Mack Henry Anderson, James Girdle, Robert Freeman and Roosevelt Anderson.
Nebraska leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Bernice Davenport; son, Albert (Sonya) Davenport, Sr.; two brothers, Isiah (Linda) Anderson of Joliet, IL and Felix (Ruthie) Poke of Lockport, IL; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson, Minnie B. Freeman, both of Jackson, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren thirty-one great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren.
