Ramona L. Sheppard

Ramona Lee Sheppard, known to some as “Mona” passed away peacefully from this life on February 7, 2019.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

Ramona was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky and moved to Chicago, Illinois with her husband, L.D. Sheppard to raise her children, France’ and Sandy.  She found God at an early age.  Her passion was bingo, bowling and shopping.  After graduating from Durham High School, she attended Purdue School to study cosmetology.  She then pursued a career as a teacher.

Ramona was a people person.  She made friends wherever she went. She was very passionate about her family.  Her favorite pass time was shopping and fashion.  The most important passion was her family.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Sheppard and daughter, Sandra Sheppard; sister, Nancy Ford; brothers, James M. Sparkie Taylor, Joe M. Taylor and Virgil Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her memories; France’ D. Sheppard (son) and his spouse, Ida Sheppard; granddaughter, Nakiia Sheppard; grandsons, Derrick Barr, Ramone Kimbrough, Samuel Kimbrough, Marlin Sheppard, and Ramone Sheppard; sister, Kay Whitaker; great grandchildren, Reina Martin, Azzia Sheppard, Marlin James Sheppard, Jr., Mason “Melo” Sheppard, Ramon C. Wanya Sheppard, Kyle Ramone Sheppard, and Daekwon Meadows.
