Richard Lewis, Sr. Obituary

Richard LeMont Lewis, Sr. affectionately known as “Ricky” age 50 gained his wings on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Richard was born to Jessie D. Lewis and Hattie Mae (nee Autman) Lewis in Joliet, Illinois on October 20, 1969.  Richard accepted Christ at an early age.  Richard attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet West High School.  Richard was a hard worker and worked several jobs.  At the time of his death, he was employed at Oil Field Support Services and a dedicated employee to NOVA Energy as a supervisor for many years.  Richard was a caring, kind hearted person who was always there for his friends any many friends did he have.  Richard did not meet a stranger.  He LOVED his family dearly and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and had given them his unconditional love.

To know him was to love him.  Richard had a smile that would light up the room.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going fishing.  Richard was definitely a true Chicago Bears fan.  He enjoyed listening to music and at every family gathering, you had to make sure there was a pot of spaghetti there for Richard.

Richard’s life was ended tragically on Friday, January 3, 2020.  We know there is an appointed time for everything….  A time for birth, a time to die, a time to laugh and a time to cry.  We are crying today but we will laugh when we see him again.

Richard is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Effie Lee Autman; paternal grandparents, Simmie Lewis and Magnolia Evans-Lewis; child, Richard Lawrence Lewis; brother, Elbert Autman; and mother-in-law, Alice Clayton.
