Robert Fuller, Jr. Obituary

Robert Charles Fuller, Jr. was born June 3, 1945 in Peoria, Illinois to Robert Charles Fuller, Sr. and Pearl Fuller.  He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family and friends at Wellstar Kennstone  Hospital in Kennessaw, Georgia following a long illness.

Robert grew up in Joliet, Illinois.  His family moved from Peoria, Illinois to Joliet in 1957.  He attended Eliza Kelly Grade School, Washington Junior High School and Joliet Township Central.  In high school, he played basketball and was part of the track team.

In 1967, he married Sharron Scott and to this union, Lisa and Rashon were born.  Robert worked at Uniroyal Tire Company.  Robert remarried in 1991 to Rossana Lowe and to this union, Gabriel was born.

In 1974, Robert enlisted into the United States Army.  He was a Human Resources Specialist.  Robert served overseas in Germany, Turkey, Panama and in several state side assignments.  While serving in the U.S. Army, he received a meritorious service medal; four Army Commendation Medals and six Good Conduct Medals.

Robert was a devoted father.  He was certainly loved and admired by everyone who knew him.  He always wanted the best for his family.  He kept in touch and travelled long distances to visit and spend time with the people he loved.

He was a VERY intelligent man, ALWAYS encouraging, available and willing to give helpful advice to those who needed it the most; ESPECIALLY TO YOUNG PEOPLE. HE truly BELIEVED that EDUCATION was an important part of life and a sustainable pillar to succeed and survive in this world.

After serving his Country for 20 years, Robert retired from the U.S. Army in 1994 with the rank of a Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged from the Military.

Robert moved to Clarksville, Tennessee to embark on a new career.  While living in Tennessee he enrolled at the Tennessee State University (TSU) to further his education and continue to excel academically.  While attending TSU, he pledged to the Sigma Pi Fraternity.

Robert graduated from TSU with honors and received two Master’s degrees in education.  Following his graduation from TSU, he decided TSU was the place to be and sought employment at the University. Robert worked 15 years for the State of Tennessee and retired for a second time.

Robert was also an active member of the Masonic Egyptian Lodge No. 44.  In his later years, he never allowed his illness to slow him down.  He continued to live life and enjoy the things that mattered to him the most, which involved traveling to new places, and spending time with the people he loved.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Fuller, Sr. and Pearl (Bowman) Fuller; his wife, Rossana (Lowe) Fuller.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted children; his daughter, Lisa; sons, Rashon (Tina) and Gabriel; two loving and supportive step-children, Rebecca McManus (George) and Felix Torres; siblings; one sister, Carol George and brother, Lawrence Fuller; grandchildren, Tashon, Jasrah, Jamal, Jonathan and Isabelle; one great grandson; nephews, Eddie (Poochie), Devean, Chaffe, Derek and Darrin; numerous cousins, family and friends.
