Thelma Ruth Holmes was born in Meadville, MS on February 2, 1944 to the late Flora Jackson and Howard Middleton, Sr. She is preceded in death by two brothers, J.W. Davis and Howard Middleton, Jr. and one sister, Ethel Mae White and one grandson Kyle D. Parnell and a special god-mother, Allie B. McCullough.
Thelma attended Rolling Fork Elementary School and later attended Henry Weather High School. Thelma worked for years at the Joliet Job Corp and Will County government, where she retired in 2005. She was a loving, caring and supportive person to her family and friends.
Thelma was called home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memory a husband of more than 50 years, David J. Holmes; two sons, Edward (Cherry) Middleton, David Middleton and two daughters, Felinda Holmes, all of Joliet, IL, Regina (Charles) Washington of Shorewood, IL and five grandchildren, David, Chelisa, Danyel, Chelice and Chenice and one great-granddaughter, Faith.
Also mourning is one sister, Georgia Hagger of Copperas Cove, Texas, one special cousin, Louise Coleman of Joliet, IL, two best friends, Shirley Ferguson of Houston, Texas and Anna Davis of Alexandria, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
