Wilma J. Blalock

Wilma Jane Blalock was born April 10, 1956 in Joliet, Illinois to Tommie Frank Blalock and Mary Jane (Chapman) Blalock.  She was the eighth child of fourteen.  Even though there were three boys and three girls born after her, Wilma wanted and acted like the “baby” of the family.

Wilma graduate from Joliet Central High School in 1975.  She later attended the Life Christian University in Normal, Illinois; where she gained recognition as a Dean’s List Scholar.  Wilma was most proud of her achievement for being selected for this Who’s Who Amongst Junior College Students of America for academic success.  She was also a member of the Psi Theta Kappa Sorority.  Wilma graduated with an Associate degree of Theology in 2010.

Wilma joined Prayer Tower Ministries C.O.G.I.C. in 1975.  Under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert L. Dorris with the Church Mother, Beatrice Thomas, Wilma became a woman of great faith.  She accepted her calling as Missionary and Prophetess.  Wilma was presently serving as the Mother of the Perfect Love Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Melvin B. Leach, Sr.  Anyone who was acquainted with Wilma knew that she never took things too seriously.  She always found something to laugh about.   Being around babies and small children was Wilma’s passion.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Thomas, Katherine, Kenneth, Ramon, Darrin and Dawson.

Wilma went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2019 after a long courageous fight with an illness at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.

She leaves to celebrate her life; one son, Adrian Darnell (Pam) Blalock; two brothers; Richard Blalock of Woodridge, IL and Larry Blalock of Manhattan, NY; five sisters, Nellie Blalock-Jenkins of Lockport, IL, Louise Blalock-Bell of Redondo Beach, CA, Brenda Blalock of Long Beach, CA, Mavis Blalock-Conway (Shinall) Conway of Lewisville, TX and Susie Blalock of Torrance, CA; four grandchildren; Keyoshia, Adrian, Jr., LaDaysia and Aubrey; two great grandchildren, Miracle and Liyah, god-children, Tiffany Bass, Jonetta Knight and her daughter, Idaris Bright; several other children that called her "grandma,"  and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nieces/nephews and many wonderful devoted friends and family.
