Carl “Stepping Carleone” Coleman was called home peacefully from this life on January 7, 2018 at South Suburban Hospital.  He loved to travel to different stepping sets all over the world.  He fought his illness and never let the illness win until now.

Carl was born December 27, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Noland and Alberta Coleman.  He was the first of eight siblings, Patricia, Earl, Bonnie, Donald, Noland, Irene, and Jerry.

Carl gave his life to Christ at an early age at Evangelical Church.  He relocated to Minnesota for a better life, and came back to Chicago.  He later joined Christ Apostolic Church.

Carl was a man that loved his family and friends.  He worked at Stateville, State Prison, and Jewel as a Security Guard.  He enjoyed stepping and sewing matching hats and dying his shoes to match his outfits.   He grew up in Robert Taylor Homes; he graduated from John Farren Elementary, DuSable Upper Grade and DuSable High School.  He was known as “Stepping Carleone.”

Carl had a special stepping friend, Glenn Ellington, that was very special to the family also.  He got a Stepping Award out of town and Glenn went there and brought it to the nursing home in Crestwood, IL.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Noland and Alberta Coleman.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his siblings, Patricia (Stanley) Hughes, Irene (Jeffery Qualls) of Yulee, FL; Earl Coleman of Chicago, IL; Bonnie Coleman and Donald Coleman, both of Jacksonville, FL; Noland Coleman of Wooddale, CA; Jerry Coleman (Erma) of Yulee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and long-time friends.
