Kenneth Artez Weddington was born on August 21, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, the third oldest child of seven children to the parents of Shirley Jean Ball and Richard Weddington.

Kenny attended Woodson South Grammar School, Forestville Upper Grade Center and Martin Luther King High School, all in Chicago, Illinois.

Kenny faithfully worked his job and was a member of the S.E.I.U. Union, Local 1 for 20 plus years, where he worked for Able Engineering.

Kenny was a member of New Joy City C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery L. Ball, who was also his cousin.

Kenny was a loving, kind and humble man, some might label him as being a “Good Samaritan” because he loved helping those in need, to the point of where even as a child, he would see someone in need and would bring them to his mom’s home just to give them food and clothes.  He enjoyed listening to music, and training with his boxing equipment.  He had a SPECIAL LOVE for his family and there was no sacrifice too great when it came to doing anything for them and MOST of all he ALWAYS took care of his “MAMA” and in his words, he would always say….”Y’all better take care of my mama.”

On Christmas day 2016, Kenny married his longtime love, Sonji, she loved him dearly and on January 7, 2018, she was right by his side when he made his transition and God called him to rest in his eternal home.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Richard Weddington and loving brother, Richard “Ricky” “Kool” Weddington.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his mother, Shirley J. Ball, loving wife, Sonji; two daughters, Prenesha “Princess” and Kenya “Baby Wheat” and one son, Kenneth “Lil Kenny;” two step-children, Kelcey and Courtney; three brothers, Derrick, Elliott (Tiunna) and Anthony “Tone-Loc” (Kristy); five sisters, Phyllis (Wayne), Karla, Angie, Krysty and Cindy (Wilbert); god-brother, Harold Daniels; four grandchildren, Arianna, Kenneth III, Unique and  Derrick; three step-grandchildren, Mikayla, Kayden and Khloe and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
