Monroe Waddell was born October 10, 1946 in Durant, Mississippi to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Walsh) Waddell.

The first child of five, Monroe moved with his parents to Joliet, IL in 1951 where he attended public schools.  Monroe confessed Christ at an early age, where he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.W. Hill and was baptized in 1956. Monroe later in life followed the faith of a Muslim until his death.

Monroe was employed at Caterpillar Tractor for 32 years and after retiring he found satisfaction in being a Security Guard for multiple small business around Joliet, Illinois.

As Monroe lived his life great memories were created, Monroe enjoyed drive in movies, boxing where he was always shadow boxing and jogging at Washington school track, but most of all he was known for his roller skating abilities.  Monroe loved to skate and didn’t mind teaching others how to skate.

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Elizabeth Waddell; one brother, William Thomas and grandson, Maurice Jackson; and multiple aunts and uncles.

Monroe leaves to cherish his wife; Delores (Barber) Waddell of 47 years; five daughters, Crystal (Antwan) White, Lakita (James) Waddell, Earline (Audi) and Tamala (Loren) Clayton, all of Joliet, IL and Yasmine Brim of Beaumont, TX; one son, Victor (Chalandris) Jackson of Wisconsin; two sisters, Bessie (Roy) Dotson, Patricia (John) Edwards of Atlanta, GA and one brother, Randy (Barb) Waddell of Atlanta, GA; 31 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one special nephew, Richard (Stacy) Thomas and two cousins he adored, LaShell Abbott and Jimmy Baker.
