Fannie Mae (nee Collins) Jenkins was born March 13, 1928 in Sicily Island, LA. She was born to the parents of Mary Jones and Charlie Collins. She went home to rest on May, 9, 2018. Fannie married her loving husband, Charlie Jenkins, Sr., in 1946 and they resided in Sicily Island, LA. She and her husband relocated to Joliet, IL in 1954. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church and later moved her membership to St. John MB Church. Fannie retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL. Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Emma Lee Collins and Shirley Ruth Collins; brothers, Charles Collins and Nelson Collins. Fannie leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Mary L. Fort (James) deceased, Crest Hill, IL and Gustavia M. Jenkins-Dorris, Shorewood, IL; son Charlie Jenkins, Jr. (Denise), Houston, TX; precious granddaughter, Debbie A. Shelby (Vincent), Elwood, IL. Fannie is survived by two sisters; Erline Gant, Joliet, IL and Minnie Lee Collins, Houston , TX; six brothers; Eddie Smith, Sicily Island, LA; Wardell Collins (Margaret), Joliet, IL; Robert Collins, Joliet, IL; Roy Collins, Grand Rapids, MI (Kim); Joseph Collins, Rockford, IL; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, one God son (Christopher Shelby) and friends.
