Deacon Louis “Lou Jack” Jackson was born in Yazoo City, MS on November 13, 1945 to H. Ruby Hodge and Willie Barney.

He was educated in the Yazoo County School System, graduating from Gibbs High School in 1963.

Deacon Jackson accepted Christ into his life at Rose Hill M.B. Church in Satartia, MS. Upon moving to Lockport, IL he joined the Mt. Ebal M.B. Church under the late Pastor Theodore H. Pinnick’s leadership, and continued to serve under the leadership of Pastor Cornell Ervins. He served for 50 years at Mt. Ebal.

Deacon Jackson was a quiet, mild mannered man that worked very hard, often working two jobs to support himself and his family that he loved very much.  He began working at Caterpillar, Inc. when he moved to Lockport in 1969, and was an excellent worker, retiring in 2002 after 33 years. In addition, he worked a part-time job at Goldblatts until they closed; and worked approximately four years as a bus driver for Laraway School District.

Deacon Jackson married his childhood sweetheart, Linda V. Martin, on April 19, 1970; to this union, six children were born.

He is preceded in death by his parents, H. Ruby Hodge and Willie Barney; his oldest brother, Blanche Hodge; his brother in infancy, Robert Lee Jackson; his mother and father-in-law, Edward Sr. and Ervene Martin; his godson, Jason Brown; sister-in-law, Rose Hodge; brother-in-law, Stanley Franklin; his late pastor and friend, Pastor Theodore H. Pinnick; and friend, Deacon Richard Pinnick.

Deacon Jackson leaves in the care of God his loving wife of 48 years, Linda V. Jackson; his children, Chandra (Ronald) Pinnick; Christopher “Chris” Jackson, Brian Jackson, Valerie (Minister Jervon) Walker, Jonathan (Tai) Jackson, Sr., and Pamela (Stephan Sr.) Grandison; his siblings, Carrie M. (Burnell) Holman, and Leroy (Johnnie Mae) Jackson; seventeen grandchildren, many other relatives and friends, and Pastor Cornell Ervins and his Mt. Ebal Family.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Please take comfort in Our Heavenly Fathers promise for the future found in Isaiah 25:8. There he promises to "swallow up death forever" and to "wipe away the tears from ALL faces." Yes, soon God will eliminate death forever and restore humans to a beautiful paradise earth, where we can all live forever! (Psalms 37:29) I hope these wonderful thoughts can bring you comfort during this extremely difficult time

We’re very sorry to hear about the lost of your dear love one. During this time we pray that Jehovah gives your family comfort during this this of grief and sorrow.
Find comfort in the bible scripture Revelation 21:4 where it says :
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”You will be in our prayers.
