Aaron Garland Obituary

Aaron Tyrone Garland was born November 29, 1959, the second beloved son to Diane Gilliam and Ardel Garland.  On July, 14, 2019 at 5:00 am, Aaron transcended this life to enjoy everlasting life with his blessed Savior. Although Aaron’s time with us was brief, however, he leaves a legacy that is full of laughter, love, music, joy, creativity and devotion. He taught other that he encountered how to slow down and just simply enjoy the moment that life presented. Aaron was a handsome man who was simply the epitome of what one considers, “Cool”.

Aaron graduated from Chadsey High School, Detroit, MI. In 1986, he graduated from the National Institute of Technology with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. He also earned numerous certificates in his profession as a Service Technician for 30 years for the following companies; Sharp, Danka, and Richo. He served as a mentor to his colleagues often allowing them to borrow from his expansive and much envied collection of tools.

Aaron and Lanthya began dating in the early 90’s and were later married. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed traveling on a cruise and many other vacations together. They shared laughs and good food at various restaurants and eateries. He was a man of faith, cool, calm and collective; A man who would talk to anyone. He made others feel warm and welcome in his presence and was supportive of his wife. Aaron loved children and was a great surrogate father. He would make pancakes every year for his wife’s students. Aaron was athletic and enjoyed playing basketball, where he would beat the socks off any youngster who dared to challenge him to a game. He held a state championship in baseball as a child and won bowling championships. He was a mentor and avid music lover and owned his own DJ business -DJ Motor City Rams.

Aaron was preceded in death by his father, Ardel Garland.

Aaron leaves to mourn in his passing his wife, Lanthya (Randall) Garland; mother, Diane Gilliam; three brothers, Cedric (Darlene) Garland, Tracy Garland, Jason (Venus) Gilliam; Aunt, Patricia Simmons; two nephews; mother-in-law Mrs. Randall; one brother-in-law, Theodore Randall; Sister-in-laws Nordyca, Portya, Tynysya Randall, Frychettya Randall-Goldberg,  and Dytra Randall-Newlin, Nancy Chen-Randall, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
