Addie Dorsey Obituary

Addie Mae Dorsey

February 12, 1949 – January 10, 2026

In the providence of the Almighty God, the death angel came on January 10, 2026, to escort Min. Addie Mae Dorsey to His secret garden. A devoted servant, visionary leader, and beloved matriarch, Addie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her church home, family and friends.

Life and Career

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 12, 1949, Addie was  the 2nd of 16 children and a woman of diligence and intellect. She dedicated many years of service to General Electric before joining Standard Parking, where she ultimately retired. Beyond her professional life, she pursued her spiritual calling with academic rigor, graduating from Chicago Baptist Institute of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.

A Life of Ministry

Addie was born to prophesy and minister. She was a pillar of New Faith MB Church, the only church home she ever knew. She served faithfully under the leadership of her first pastor, Rev. Leroy Taylor, and continued her stewardship under Rev. Howard Randolph.

Minister Dorsey was a "faithful steward" who poured her heart into numerous auxiliaries:

Leadership: Associate Minister and Superintendent of Sunday School.

Youth Mentorship: Junior Sunday School Superintendent, Supervisor of the Youth Usher Board, and Minister/Overseer of the Children’s Church.

Service: Member of the Usher Board and leader of Vacation Bible School.

She had a profound love for children, and the feeling was mutual; she was deeply cherished by "her kids" and her entire church family.

Family Legacy

Addie has been reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Paul Dorsey; her parents, Sedonia and  Jentle Sr; her sisters, Ann Shirley and Jeannetta McGhee; and her brothers, Samuel, Henry, Charles, Reginald, Ronald, and Gerald.

She leaves behind a rich legacy of love to be cherished by:

1 Daughter: Christine Dorsey.

7 Great-Grandchildren: Carlisha, Jeremiah, Marshawn, Uhmyah, Marcus, Devin, and Darius.
