Albert Lee Barnett, Sr (Al) was born in Laurel, MS on May 29, 1953. He departed this life on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the age of 67.
Al attended Idella Washington public school in Laurel, MS and graduated from Lockport Township high School in Lockport, IL. Shortly after high school, Al married the love of his life, Anita Ward celebrating almost 47 years of marriage. To this union, three children were born. Al confessed Jesus as Lord and was a Deacon at Joy of Bethlehem Apostolic Church of Lockport, IL, as well as the Chairman over the Brotherhood Department.
Al retired from Stepan Chemical after 32 years of service. He was well known for his constant jokes and loud laughter. He enjoyed fishing, singing, traveling and spending time with his family. Al impacted everyone he met and made everyone feel comfortable.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, Julia Mae Barnett and Joe Chaney; sister, Lois Pierce; brothers, Larry King and Ronnie Jordan.
Al leaves to cherish his memory; step-father, Robert E. (Helen) Parrott of Laurel, MS; wife, Anita Barnett of Crest Hill, IL; two daughters, Octavia Barnett of Joliet, IL and Tawana (Erskin) Austin of Atlanta, GA; son, Albert L. (Cabina) Barnett, Jr of Rockford, IL; sisters, Christine Walker of Erie, PA, Edna Barnett, Debbie Parrott, and Barbara Adams all of Laurel; brothers, Robert (Peggy) King and BJ Parrott of Laurel, MS, Willie (Coral) Barnett of Chattanooga, TN, and Michael Parrott of Joliet, IL; sister-in-law, Larrie Ann Jordan of Joliet, IL; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
