A Time to be Born
Alberta (Sutton) Jones, known to the family and friends as "Sister", was born April 5, 1935 in Canton, Mississippi. She was the fourth child of 11 siblings born to the union of the late Cleveland Sutton Sr. and Alberta (Hawkins) Sutton.
A Time to Live
Alberta received her education at Pine Grove Community School in Madison County, Mississippi. She confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. L. R. Perry, and became a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Alberta was joined in Holy Matrimony to Arthur Jones in the early 50s. They relocated to Chicago, Illinois to find gainful employment and raise a family. Alberta started her work career at the YMCA home care for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Her passion was spending quality time with her family sitting on her porch reminiscing about growing up at home in Mississippi. She enjoyed playing with her dog, "Milo"; teaching him new tricks and sometimes fussing at her bird being so loud would bring a smile.
