A Time to be Born
Alberta Pittman was born to Robert and Lucy Austin on September 23, 1935 in Blytheville, AR. She was the oldest daughter of four siblings.
A Time to Plant
Alberted accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Kankakee, IL, lead by Pastor Pride.
A Time to Grow
Alberta spend her early childhood in Blytheville. She later moved to Gary, IN to live with her paternal grandmother. She married Manuel Pitman in her early twenties. In that union, four children were born, Ronnie, Dennis, Manuel, Jr., and Tony. She loved playing ball with her boys. Alberta also loved to sing and go to concerts. Her favorite artist was Aretha Franklin. She spoiled her kids and everyone around her. Alberta had a heart of gold. What was hers, was everyones.
A Tme of Peace
Alberta leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Ronnie, Dennis (Armia), Manuel Jr. (June), and Tony Pittman, all of Joliet, IL; bonus daughter, Kim Grant of Chicago, IL; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Time to Rest
Alberta made her heavenly transition on Thursday, Augut 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Sammy Austin; and sister, Bobbie Austin.
