Alice V. (Gooch) Lucas

Alice Virginia Lucas (nee Gooch), age 74 transitioned from this life peacefully in her home  on Monday, November 22, 2021 in Joliet, Illinois.

Alice was born June 12, 1947 in Water Valley, Mississippi to Fred Thomas Moore and Dorothy Lee Gooch.  Alice confessed her love for Christ at an early age.  She graduated from Water Valley High School in 1965.  She was a loving wife, mother and friend to everyone she came in contact with.  Alice loved dancing, cooking, playing bingo and spending time with her family.  She had a warm and inviting demeanor that made everyone happy to be in her presence.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lucas Jr.; father, Fred Thomas Moore; stepfather, Robert Horton Sr.; daughter, Beverly A. Caldwell; infant son, Ricky Gooch; infant granddaughter, Diamonique Duncan; grandson, Reginald Johnson; brothers, Robert (Essie) Horton Jr. and Andrew Horton; aunt, Alice G. Steen who raised her.

She leaves to cherish her memories; mother, Dorothy Lee Horton; two sons; James (Pamela) Gooch of Water Valley, MS, and Tyrone (Valisa) Caldwell of Coffeeville, MS; one daughter, Lisa Caldwell of Dallas, TX; two stepsons, Edward Lucas Jr. of Missouri and Jermaine (Sandra) Lucas of Lockport, IL; three step-daughters, Lisa Lucas of Joliet, IL, Carolyn Lucas of Joliet, IL and Brenda Lindsey-Sherman of Kankakee, IL; siblings, Clarence Coleman of Shelby, MS, James (Ollie) Johnson of Clarksdale, MS, Ellis (Brenda) Coleman of Clarksdale, MS, Joe (Edie) Coleman of Indianapolis, IN, J.D. Moore of Richland, IN, Fred Moore of Shelby, MS, J.B. Moore, Mound  Bayou, MS, Christine Moore, Mound Bayou, MS, Gloria Moore of Indianapolis IN, Dorothy Moore of Indianapolis, IN, Victoria Moore of Indianapolis IN, Ruby Nell Horton, and Dorothy Ann Horton of Water Valley,MS; special aunts, Betty Andrews and Joann Gatson of Joliet, IL; special cousins, Wesley (Maxine) Gooch of Joliet, IL and Anna Moore of Indianapolis; best friend of many years, Dorothy Mae Tanner of Joliet, IL.  She also leaves to cherish her 14 grandchildren, Frederick (Jamie) Caldwell, Kena Caldwell, Tiffany, Keyonia, Russ’Sheda, Russell Bass, Tykiaya Willis and Taleigha Caldwell, LaBrashia, Damien, Jessica Caldwell, Sandra Horton, Malcolm Horton and Jermetric Johnson; 18 great grandchildren, step-grandchildren; a special son-in-law, Bosun Yesufu of Dallas, TX and a host of loving family members and friends.
