On December 30, 1974, Brenda Carolyn and Gregory Ellis Brooks welcomed their loving son, Anthony Cortez. He was the middle child of their three sons. He was affectionately known as “Bezze.”
Anthony attended Joliet Central High School. He was united in marriage to Tara Brooks on July 7, 2007 and to this union one son was born, Armani Anthony. Anthony loved and adored his children.
Anthony enjoyed family time with his children and five grandchildren. His favorite sports were football and basketball, especially the football team Dallas Cowboys. When not spending family time, he enjoyed hobbies which included riding motorcycles, fishing, and swimming. He also loved watching his sons play basketball, especially Armani.
Anthony transitioned suddenly on Friday, June 26, 2020 after succumbing to a long-term illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brenda and Gregory Brooks; his brother, Gregory Arness Brooks; grandfather, Lamar Parish; grandmother, Threesa Dixon; aunts, Joyce McGilvery and Patricia Taylor; uncle, Donald Parish; cousins, Courtney Parish and Keara Hosey; and grandson, Loren Charles Clayton III
Anthony leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Tara Brooks; brother, Kevin (Amy) Brooks;grandmother, Barbara Parish; grandfather, Herbert Brooks Sr.; children, Alexus (Tevin) Schoolfield,Anthony Brooks Jr., Justin Anthony Brooks, Armani Anthony Brooks; stepchildren, Loren Clayton, Anastasia Clayton and DaVion Clayton; grandchildren, Alisiana Schoolfield, Tevin Schoolfield Jr., Miliani Clayton, Damiyah Clayton, Damia Clayton and Aiden Ragans; special friends, Phillip Williamson, Turnelle Dixon, Tavares Moore; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous other relatives and friends.
