Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Shelby of Joliet, Illinois, was born in Pineville, Mississippi on July 2, 1940.
Bobbie departed this earthly life peacefully and entered into eternity on April 27, 2022. Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, Mac and Bessie Moore; siblings, King Henry Moore, Booker T. Moore, MC Moore, L.T. (Gladys) Moore, Albert (Beverly) Moore, Leroy (Ola B.) Moore, Catherine Moore; one grandson, Curtis Sherrod.
Bobbie was the seventh child born of 11. She was baptized at an early age at Pineville, MS. She was educated at Smith County Schools before moving to Joliet, IL. Bobbie was the former wife of Quincy Shelby. To this union, four loving children were born, AL Shelby, Gayla Ellis, Kasslian Shelby, and Allison Shelby.
Bobbie was strong, courageous and loving mother, grandmother, godmother, and aunt. She was diligent about taking care of her family. Bobbie demonstrated good work ethics and many more values. Beloved for her service of caring for other’s children. She was affectionally called “Granny” by many.
Bobbie leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Al Shelby, Gayla Ellis, Kasslian Shelby, and Allison (Audra) Shelby; three sisters, Evangelist Prophetess Evelyn Carliss of Chicago, IL, Evanglist Christen (Sammie) Davis of Chicago, IL, and Maxine (Willie) Lawton, Bobbie's youngest sister whom raised as her own; grandchildren, Rhonda Cooper, Taheshia Smith, Tomeca (Michael) Bouie-Johnson, Keon Shelby, Quadree Shelby, Markel Ellis, Al Atkins, Verisha (Darius) Braylock and Tiara Blakney; special niece, Shirley Nicholson; her special friends, Miss J. Roof, Dorothy, and Lucille. She also leaves family who shared a special place in her heart., Quintina, Vincent, Erika, and Adam Shelby. A host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, godchildren, cousins and friends.
