Barbara A. Shepherd

Barbara Ann Shepherd was born December 11, 1947 in Foster, Alabama (Tuscaloosa County).  She was one of eight children born to the union of John Shepherd and Alice Robertson Shepherd.

Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Foster, Alabama and was an active member until she moved to Joliet, Illinois at the age of 18.  She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, Illinois and later attended New Canaanland Church in Joliet, Illinois.

Barbara was known as one of the best cooks in the Joliet area before retiring as a Supervisor at Premier Laundry Technologies in Joliet, Illinois.

Barbara was loved by many for her loving personality and would love and feed you.  Barbara had a cheerful spirit and sense of humor that everyone loved.  On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Barbara received her wings.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Daphney Ann Shepherd; mother and father; one brother, O.C. Cooper; two sisters, Ludella Hince and Ophelia Spencer.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memories; two children, Jacqueline Ann Shepherd of Joliet, IL and Terelle Clark of Milton, WI; four grandchildren, Quancheta (Brian) Hightower, Raynardo Alexander, Joshua Shepherd and Dondre Keeler; additional grandchildren, Corintha Downs, Kenneth Ward, Jr., Dametrius Mitchell, Jr.; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Annie C. Moore of Joliet, IL, Jimmie (George) Brown of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Doris Evans of Dayton, OH; one brother, William (Barbara) Shepherd of Joliet, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend.
