Bernadette Marie Boozer, affectionately known as “Bernie” or “BB”, was born to the loving parents, James and Opal Boozer on February 10, 1971 in Joliet, IL. She was the youngest daughter of this blended family and beloved by all her older siblings. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her mother and family after a long physical challenge on May 6, 2024.
Bernie was a permanent resident of Joliet, playing the musical instrument, the oboe, and graduating from Joliet West High School with a dream to one day become a model and entrepreneur. She attended college at Joliet Community College and earned her certificate in Lobotomy. Following in the footsteps of her lovely mother, Bernadette attended John Robert Powers (JRP) Modeling School and Talent Agency. The daughter and mother pair were very successful at JRP, earning awards at competitions in New York with Bernadette being 1st Runner Up at this prestigious event. From this exposure, Bernie developed a love for rhymes and the spoken word. She founded the group BB Community Connections that hosted events in fashion, dance, and poetry in Joliet, St. Louis, and Chicago. For a number of years, Bernie also worked in the Joliet Post Office. Later in life, Bernadette became an in-home caregiver working for Will County Department of Human Services. She provided care for a number of senior individuals within the greater Joliet area, including her father, who proceeded her in death.
Bernadette leaves to treasure her memory, her mother, Opal Boozer, eldest brother’s family, Mark (Kimberly) Crayton, Mark Crayton Jr., Tabirith Crayton, and Sarah Crayton, older brother’s family, David (Martha) Crayton, Josiah Crayton, David Crayton Jr., and Diamond Opal Crayton, along with her eldest sister, Geraldine Boozer-Claytor, sister, Katherine Boozer-Tatum proceeded her in death, brother, Harold Dolbert, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
