Bernice (Baby Ray) Hinton Hendreson was born to Lonnie and Bernice (Bennie C Jones) Hinton on February 17, 1939, in Meridian, MS, the second of five children.
She accepted Christ at the age of three and was later baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Laurel, MS, under the pastorate of the late J. M. Herron. She was also baptized again in the Jordan River (The Holy Land) by the Late Pastor Isaac Singleton, 1985.
Bernice attended and graduated from Joliet Township High School (Central) and attended JJC for Early Childhood Education, no degree. She was employed by Ammunition Procurement Supply Agency (APSA) for fifteen years and retired from NICOR Gas after 23 years.
Bernice met and married Freddie Lee Hendreson and to this union was born eight children.
She was called into the ministry to preach her first sermon in Mount Zion in 1985 and teach the Word of God. She pastored Dissect My Soul Ministry for one year in Schaumburg, IL, with her husband and Pastor Singleton’s blessings.
Bernice love to travel and make it her business to visit family and friends as often as she could. She also enjoyed going into the hospital and nursing homes to visit the sick, praying with them, reading the Word and just talking or just being there helping in whatever way it pleased the person at that time.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, 3 brothers, Lonnie, Jr; George and James; sister, Brenda Hinton Hines Casaccio and her sons, Joseph Hinton and Marcus Hines and Estella Harper, which was her aunt (seven brothers and sisters of her mom)
She leaves to mourn her daughters; Ventrice Kim, Benita Joyce, Phylis Annette and Caron Battle; Daughters in love, Shirley and Clarise; 2 spiritual daughters, Yolande Strong and Araniyah Vidales; sons, Frederic, Nolen, Kyle, and sons in love, Booker Jackson and James; a host of grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins along with a host of friends and prayer partners.
The one thing most memorable of Bernice was her hugs and being able to say you are not hanging but should be standing on the Word of God which is your foundation. There is no foundation if you are hanging. She had a strong conviction about what the Word had to say.
