Bessie (Craig) Brown, was born January 18, 1956 into the union of Alice Craig and Willie B Craig Sr. in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Bessie departed this life on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Bessie accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted and faithful member of Hope For All Church of God in Joliet, IL. Bessie had a servant's heart. She was known for spending time helping her friends in any way that she could. In her spare time, Bessie loved a good bingo game and to spend time with her grandchildren and children.
While she was known for her small stature, Bessie could light up a room with just her presence. Bessie was very gentle, wise, and always greeted you with the sweetest grin. Everyone loved Bessie. Bessie worked over the years in various occupations, however her most recent job was in the food service department in the residential community where she lived.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Larry" Brown, her parents, Alice and Willie B Craig Sr., her sisters; Barbara Porter, Johanna Newton, and Sandra Goodman.
Bessie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Wendell Andrews Jr. and Theresa (Shannon) Newsome, her grandchildren, Shannon Allyse, Leela, Andrew, and Ryiah, her brothers; Jessie Craig, Willie B (Wanda) Craig Jr., Calvin Craig, and Charles Craig, and her sisters; Hazel Chambers and Vickie Craig Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends.
