Betty Jean Smith-Cole was born March 27, 1938 to Exein Blevins and Gertrude (nee Nicholas) Blevins in Columbus, MS.
Betty accepted Christ at an early age in Columbus, MS. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Betty was employed at Western Electric and Sunny Hill Nursing Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Exein and Gertrude Blevins; her husband, James Cole; three brothers, Vatious, Billy Jean (twin brother) and Tytious Blevins; three sisters, Charlie Grace Matthews, Arlealia Dowd and Margarette James.
She departed this life on Monday, May 15, 2023 in Joliet, IL.
She is survived by her loving children; Rachell Hood, DeAnn Lewis, Robert L. (Brenda) Smith Jr., Lonnie Smith and Tracy Lynn Austin; sisters, Helen Peoples of St. Louis, MO and Earline Stewart of Detroit, MI; one sister-in-law, Jannie Mae Blevins of St. Louis, MO; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
