Bobbie Jean Crudup was born to the late Walter Hicks Sr. and Estella Hicks on Feb 25, 1932 in Summerland, MS. She departed this earthly life on June 10, 2025. She received Christ at an early age. She married the love of her life, Hezekiah Crudup Jr. in 1948. They relocated to Joliet, IL in 1951 where they raised five children.
They became members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, She later became a long time member of Second Baptist Church. There she served on several ministries including The Blessing table, working in the kitchen, singing in the choir and as a Sunday School Teacher. She was always willing to help where needed.
Bobbie worked at Caterpillar with her husband for a time but stopped to care for her growing family. Later Bobbie attended and completed her Cosmetology training at Dudley University. She retired from being a hairstylist in 2025.
She took great joy in caring for her family. She also took pride in the appearance of her yard and home. She had a passion for cultivating her flowers and sharing from her bountiful garden.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her father, Walter Hicks Sr., mother Estella Hicks; husband, Hezeikah Crudup; brother, Walter (Gloria) Hicks; sister, Helen (Clarence) Martin, and daughter, Corrine Crudup.
She leaves to cherish her siblings; Charlene (Jacob) Moffet, Ida (Charles) King; children, Lannie Crudup. Everette (Carla) Crudup, Roberta (Floyd) Franklin, and Rosiland Givens; 14 grandchildren, Imani Crudup, Scotty Tabor, Erin Greenwood, Janaya Crudup, Lannie Crudup Jr., Charles Martin, Brandis Fielder, Brittany Laws, David Crudup, Brian Crudup, Constance McAllister, Michael Givens Jr., Donyell Floyd, Everette Crudup, 31 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and special friend, Ritha Seabron.
