Brian Johnson Obituary

Brian Keith Johnson was born January 2, 1972 to John E Johnson, Sr. and Barbara J. Johnson (nee Autman); and was the last child born to this union. He was born at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois. He attended school in the Fairmont School District 89 and Lockport East High School.

Growing up, Brian was affectionally known as lil Bump as he was one of the mirrored reflections of his father.  He had a love for his family and although he didn’t have any children of his own, he always tried to “raise” and “discipline” his nieces and nephews or any child in his presence.  Brian had a zeal for life and was always the loud and boisterous voice in the room. Within our household, everybody was given a nickname by Brian or some other siblings. Those nicknames were a way of identifying with each other and Brian loved to laugh and joke with his siblings when using those nicknames.  He enjoyed people from all walks of life as he felt he could relate to all people. Brian loved making people laugh; even if it meant embellishing the facts of the story he was telling.  He was the baby boy of the household who loved all of his siblings; but, he shared a special bond with his sister Terri.

Brian lived life on his own terms and proved to anyone in his circle, he was going to do it his way. He was a self-taught barber and regarded himself as the best there was; which, often lead to sibling rivalries with his older brother John. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Johnson, Sr. (1992) and Barbara (1997); and his older brother, Tony Johnson, Sr. (2023) His paternal grandmother, Susie Jordan; his maternal grandparents, Adolph and Daisy Autman. His aunt, Annie Bell Autman and uncles, Fritz Autman, Adolph Autman III, Bonnie Ray, Leonard, Gregory, and Patrick Jordan.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his beloved siblings: Betty Autman, John E Johnson, Jr., Delores (Frankie) Jenkins, Stockbridge, GA; Linda Ramsey, (Rosline); Dale (Keona) Johnson, Sr., Bolingbrook, Il; Terri (Michael) Holmes, Jacksonville, FL, Tonya and Jonathan Spiva, both of Illinois. Aunts, Brenda Autman, Carolyn McCormick and Earnestine Thomas and uncles, William E Autman, Mitchell (Brandi) Jordan and Ernest Jordan and a great host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Special childhood friends, Richard Myers, Darryl Green and Dr. Joseph King. We will all miss him and cherish the years and time spent with him.
