Calvin Julius Thompson, Sr. was born August 29, 1963 in Joliet, IL to Lamar and Rosa Thompson. He passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, June 10, 2021.
As a child, Calvin attended Mt. Zion Full Gospel Tabernacle in Joliet, IL. He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School class of 1981.
Calvin had many jobs throughout the years including; Schooler, NFI, Kaluzny Brothers Inc., and D&P Blacktopping. He was currently employed at Neovia Logistics in Elwood, IL as a spotter for the past three years.
Calvin was a people person that loved traveling, cooking, eating, and being with family. He was a big kid at heart and loved all the kids, especially playing and roughing them up. Calvin enjoyed camping, swimming, biking, and roller skating, but most of all, he enjoyed riding the motorcycle.
Calvin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lamar Sr. and Bertha Thompson; maternal grandparents, Henry and Willie Mae Williams; and best friend, Donald Cousin.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memories: his father and mother, Lamar and Rosa Thompson; his wife, Juanita Hayes; his sons, Calvin Thompson Jr., Ryan (Cristina) Williamson, and DeMonte Thompson; his daughters, Taria (Michael) Merritt, Tionte’ Thompson, and Lakarsha (Larry) Booth. Calvin leaves behind his 10 grandchildren: Dwayne Long III, Shaniyah Thompson, Michael Merritt III, Alexis Thompson, Mikale Merritt, Larry Booth III, LaBraun Booth, Mea Merritt, Noah Williamson, and Marcus Gayles Jr. Calvin is also survived by one brother, Bernard Hammond; and five sisters: Stephanie Dorn, Selena Hammond, Karen Hammond, Demetria Thompson, and Deidre Thompson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
