Cariel Parks Obituary

Cariel Hansell Devan Parks, born November 29, 1993 passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 due to being a victim of Chicago gun violence. Cariel had a very caring, fun, and loving soul. He was warmly welcomed into Heaven by his grandfather, Hansell Devan Parks; auntie, Genetta Lavern Parks; cousin, Whitney Crawley, and many others. Cariel is survived by many.

Cariel attended Chicago Public Schools and  graduated from Corliss High School and had aspirations of being a professional football player. While attending school, he was always the most driven athlete on the football field. He attended college at the Globe Institute of Technology in New York and returned to Chicago to be near his family.  Cariel accepted Christ and later reconfirmed his love for Christ and attended House of Hope Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Kathleen Miles.

He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier.

Cariel is the beloved son of Towanda M. Parks, with whom he loved with every piece of his heart; his grandparents, Genell (Parks) Creal and Wiley Creal Sr.; his brothers, Kavon Harris, Khalil Harris, Derrick Hamilton and George Lynch; sisters, Keziah Harris, Yazmine and Jenessa Hamilton; his cousin-brother, DeMarcus (Sydney) Houston and cousin-sister, Marleya Williams, in addition to cousins, Xavier Moran, Aissia Murphy, Diamante Calhoun and Kendrell Brown; special cousins, Erica and Latavia (Tae Tae) Davis; aunts, Roshonda (Queen) Madairak Harris, Ella (Jerome) Carter, Courtney Crawley, He is also the fun, loving uncle to DeMarcus Jr. (D3), Zeekzo, Hakeem Houston, and Adair Lynch (Big Gangsta); also uncle, Wiley (Tiana) Creal Jr. and loving roommate, Rionna and best friends, Sashay Turner and Jade Anderson.

Cariel was the life of the party; and he could instantly brighten a room the moment he entered it. He could carry a meaningful conversation with a stranger and was always willing to help. He was so strong physically and emotionally, as well as, always being a comfort or clutch to anyone in need. He had a big smile, big laugh, and even bigger personality. If he wasn't singing or dancing, he was offering you a shoulder to cry on. Brave, rambunctious, intellectual, resilient, optimistic, selfless, and easygoing are words you would hear if someone was decribing Cariel. Cariel could adapt to any of his surroundings and anyone's personality. He had a heart of gold that would have people gravitating towards him. Maybe it was his comforting spirit or sweet face, but over the years he had befriended and loved many. All of us were lucky to be counted amongst those that he loved. He will forever be in all of our hearts, prayers, and memories.
