Carl Anthony Jones Sr.

Obituary

Carl Anthony Jones, Sr. was born on July 15, 1946, in Chicago IL to Vernon Jones and Dorothy Jones. Both parents preceded him in death.

Carl went to Saint Malachi Catholic school during his elementary school years. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts, which he absolutely loved. There was a lasting remembrance of being in the Scouts. This taught Carl how to endure things in life and how to make the right decisions and to always be prepared.

Carl rededicated his life at Broadview Baptist Church and was baptized. After the membership class he was an officer, once again vowed to serve and protect.  Carl later joined Restoration Christian Church where he led security.  He leveraged his years of experience to ensure the safety of the congregation. 

Carl graduated from Mason Middle School and then went to John Marshals High School. At that time, he was in the ROTC.  This was the training that piqued his interest in joining the United States Army.  His desire to serve and protect others developed in his younger years.  This is what the family will always remember about him. 

Carl married Mary on September 15,1967 and from the marriage union they had five children.  Most important to Carl throughout his life was to be the provider for his family so that no one had to be worried about anything.  

Carl had several jobs in his life as he focused to provide for his family. He worked for John Sexton & Company for twenty-five years. During that time, he also worked part time for the Bellwood Police Department.  As he reached the end of his time at Sexton, he was offered a full-time opportunity from the police department as a truck enforcement officer, which he proudly accepted. 

Carl departed this life on June 20, 2022, at 10:37 AM.

Carl leaves to cherish fond memories of his wife Mary E Jones, five children: (Carl A Jones Jr, Angela M Jones, Silvia Jones, Catherine Jones, Glenn and Jamila Jones), and 14 grandchildren: (Anthony, Christine, Andre, Tyler (preceded in death) Tenishia, Ariana, Jarrel, Cyan, David, Javon, Nyah, Alysia, Nehemiah, Naimah), and siblings: Elaine (Cisco) Rowland, Verna Snulligan-Moore, Vernon Jones and Yvette Jones. 

Carl will be truly missed by his peers, friends, and family … until we meet again.
