Cleveland Stokes Obituary

Cleveland L. Stokes Sr., affectionately known as “O.C.” or “Peter”, was born to the late David and Susie Stokes on March 10, 194, in Joliet, IL.

Cleveland accepted Christ at an early age and held a belief in Jesus Christ. He attended Joliet Public Schools and Joliet Township High School. After high school Cleveland was employed by Electro Motive, a division of General Motors until his retirement.

Cleveland enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He departed this life on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Cleveland is preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Susie Stokes; five siblings, David Jr., Mattie Williams, Dorothy Cottrell, Addie Wilson, and Charles Stokes; one son, Eric Stokes; one grandson, Kenneth Stokes Jr.

Cleveland leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Kenneth Sr., Cleveland Jr., and Carolyn McCoy; grandchildren, Jessica, Tea, Jarrell, Joshua, Martin Lee, Eric, and Jamal; brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends.
