Clifton "Clifford" Gaddy was born to George Gaddy Sr. and Allean Nixon Gaddy on July 14, 1931. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. After attending school in Mississippi, he enlisted in the United States Army, after which time he moved to Illinois, and he began his working career at Caterpillar.
Cliff was known for his love of bowling and playing cards, and he served as a proud Buffalo Solider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Gaddy Sr. and Allean Gaddy; four brothers, Major Gaddy, George Gaddy Jr., Bob Gaddy Sr., and William Gaddy; six sisters, Mary Gaddy, Lydia Joe, Lena Young, Geneva Clayton, Jessica Gaddy and Wilma Jones; two brothers in infancy, John Gaddy and Whitney Gaddy.
He passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno, Illinois.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Melody Abernathy Gaddy; his children, Sandra (Johnny) Johnson of Joliet, IL, Dale (Roberta) Gaddy of Mobile, AL, David Gaddy of Joliet, IL, Mary Reed of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Cameron Gaddy of Kankakee, IL; 10 grandchildren, Dessiarae Gaddy Sanchez, Rachelle (Darvin) Johnson, Dale Gaddy Jr., Darrius (Kintoya) Gaddy, Jamel King, Charles (Hope) McElrath (deceased), Tiffany Jenkins, Tianne Jenkins, Janaro Bradley, Cynthia (Frank) Edmon; 24 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two brothers, Jessie (Mattie) Gaddy of Laurel, MS and Bobby (Patricia) Gaddy of Joliet, IL; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
