Corrine Louise Dickerson-Thompson
Our beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Corrine "Lou" Dickerson-Thompson, was granted permission to rest on April 2, 2024. She was born the eighth of eleven children born to Cora B. and Corrine Dickerson in Joliet, IL on October 4, 1955.
Corrine accepted Christ at an early age. She was a life-long, faithful member of St. Paul M.B. Church. She loved her family as well as her church family. She was strong in her faith and never wavered. She was Choir Director at St. Paul M.B. Church for many years. She enjoyed Gospel music and loved to sing.
Corrine was a graduate of Joliet Central High School Class of 1974. She retired from the City of Joliet as a School Crossing Guard. She worked for School District 86, and she also worked at Primary Care for several months.
Corrine and her late husband loved to travel, including to family reunions. She loved to cook, and she and her husband enjoyed hosting family cookouts. While she never bared any children of her own, she loved children, especially her nieces and nephews, and loved working in the Nursery at St. Paul Church.
Corrine was preceded in death by her husband, Larry "L.C." Thompson, Sr.; parents, Cora B. and Corrine Dickerson; two brothers, Vernon and Melvin Dickerson, and one sister, Gwendolyn Dickerson-Johnson.
Corrine leaves to cherish her memories her two loving sisters, Estelle Carter of Capitol Heights, MD; and Darlene (Lee) Bradley of Joliet, IL; five brothers, Isaiah (late Queen) of Joliet, IL; Alphonso (late Dorothy) of Rock Island, IL; Paul W., Charles C., and Robert M., all of Joliet, IL. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and one special friend, Pat Gavin.
