D'Shawn A. Pierce

D’Shawn Amari Pierce A.K.A. “Deeds” was born on February 15, 2003 at 8:27 p.m. to Tamika E. Pierce and Antwan Godfrey in Joliet, Illinois.  He departed this life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

D’Shawn attended Joliet Public Schools and was working on getting his G.E.D.  He started working at City Sports because he liked clothes and shoes.  He was all about fashion.

D’Shawn grew up in Saving Power Church in Joliet, Illinois where he attended as a little boy.  As he got older, he started attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois with his father.  He loved to listen to music, play the PlayStation or Xbox with his younger brothers.  He loved doing videos with his baby sister.  He really enjoyed family time and playing basketball with his friends. D’Shawn was blessed to have a beautiful baby girl, he loved his daughter with everything in him.  They would always FaceTime with each other, just talking and laughing.

D’Shawn is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Samuel E. Pierce; paternal grandfather, Lewis Godfrey; paternal grandmother, Katherine Godfrey; uncles, Terrence E. Pierce and Christopher Pierce; great uncle, Booker June Bradley a.k.a., “ Joe”; cousins, Latisha L. Godfrey a.k.a., “Tee Tee”, Angelo Shelby and Kah’leel D. Gaines-Streeter.

D’Shawn leaves to cherish his loving memory; his only daughter, Kaiya Alani Pierce; his loving mother, Tamika E. Pierce and his father, Antwan (Chiquita Berry) Godfrey; his sisters, Aubree Hines, Armani Godfrey and Ar’godeis Godfrey; brothers, Cedric Pierce, Princeton Hines, A’rashad Godfrey and  Ao’nest Godfrey; maternal grandmother, Yolanda Norris-Pierce; great grandmother, Lucille Sue Bradley; step-grandmother, Princess Berry; aunts, Tasha (Howard) Snapp, Becky Pierce, Anita Norris, Belinda (Lorena) Valdez, Latasha Godfrey, Paula Keese and Zina Lain; uncles, Timothy (Veronica) Norris, Marcus (Miranda Ammons) Godfrey, Terrence Godfrey, Toby Godfrey, Joseph Holmes, Kenneth Whennen, Christopher (Adrijana) Norris, Courtney (Camilea) Norris and Darious Berry; special friends and family, Kai’lani Dougherty, Mercedes Beamon, Morganne Snapp, Caiside Snapp, Dasia Norris, Ryan Reddrick, Vernelle Wright Jr.; special big lil brothers, Man Man, Ty, JoJo and a host of other relatives and friends.
