Daniel Thomas Hardy was born on May 29, 1964, in Talladega, Alabama, to Lester and Julia, who preceded him in death. Daniel was the fourth of six children. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Daniel moved to Chicago with his family when he was 11 years old. He attended Joseph Warren Grammar School and Bowen High School. After high school, Daniel enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, where he served his country for six years. He had many jobs during his journey, making many friends along the way. He settled at AT&T, where he first worked in their Construction Division and later worked as an Installer.
Daniel was a lover of music, but he especially loved to sing. He competed against R. Kelly at the Regal Theatre here in Chicago. He took his talents to Harlem, New York, to compete at the infamous Apollo Theatre. Later, he landed the role of Little Albert in the live stage play, “Dream Girls.” He enjoyed going to the gym and lifting weights with his friends. He also loved spending time with his beloved Pup Pup.
Daniel met his wife, Sonja, at the College of Automation. They began their courtship in April of 1986. They were married on November 17, 2008. They’ve weathered together for 39 years. Within those years, they gave birth to two children, Cameron Blu and Cody Rai Hardy.
Daniel departed this life on February 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Thomas and Julia Jones; and his sister, Darlene Marshall.
Daniel leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sonja; children, Cameron and Cody; grandson, Cameron, Jr.; brothers, Douglas Hardy and David (Rochelle) Hardy; sisters, Debra Harvey and Judy Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Daniel was an outgoing, open-minded, witty, vibrant soul, full of personality and charm. He will be deeply missed.
