David L. Autman Sr.

David L. Autman Sr. passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at his hone surrounded by his loving family.

David was born to the union of Ado Autman Sr. and Rosie (Turner) Autman in Holly Ridge, LA on October 6, 1925.

He was united in holy matrimony to Effie Lee (Williams) Autman (deceased).  To this union nine children were born.  Later he united in holy matrimony to Bernice Autman (deceased).  He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, daughter, Annie Lee; one son, Lou Gene (2022); three sisters, one brother and five grandchildren.

In 1953 he relocated to Illinois from Louisiana.  In 1955 he gained employment with General Motors where he retired after 35 years of service.  He also became a faithful member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Clint Wilburn, where he was a faithful choir member which he loved dearly until his health declined.

He leaves to mourn his seven children, Matthew Autman Sr. (Lynette deceased), David Autman Jr. (Theresa deceased), Hattie Mae Autman (Jessie Lewis), Robert Autman Sr. (Joyce Ann), Michael Autman Sr. (Linda), Bobby Autman Sr., James Autman Sr. (Joy). He also  leaves 39 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special friend William (Pop) Ford.

We trust that he is enjoying being in the presence of the Lord and we will see him again.
