DeVoris Howard

DeVoris “Bubba” Howard was born on July 22, 1939 in LoveJoy "Brooklyn", Illinois to the union of Myrtle Edwina (Barlow) and Lemuel F. Howard II.  A graduate of LincolnSenior High School in East Saint Louis, Illinois, DeVoris joinedthe Marine Corp serving from January 1958 until his honorable discharge in January 1961. Upon his return home his commitment to service found him joining the ranks of the EastSt. Louis fire department in a career spanning 27 years and saw him rise to the rank of Captain and Chief Fire Inspector. Agenerous, big -hearted family man his laugh was easily recognizable and infectious, his depth of knowledge knew no limits and he was easily found in the kitchen or tending to the grill as cooking was his true passion. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kerry and Lemuel Howard III. He leaves to cherish wonderful memories and to carry on his legacy, a devoted wife Paulette (Ingram), 2 sisters Dixie Lee Wright of Normal, Illinois and Donna F Silas of Clinton, Maryland,daughters Jennifer, Astrid, Renita and Michelle, sons Christopher, Montrell and Lamont, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends.He was a blessing and a bright light to all that knew him and his presence will always be with us.
