Derrick Martel McGee

Derrick Martel McGee was born October 24, 1980, to Jeanette Gaskin and Edwin McGee.

He attended Joliet Public Schools and Joliet West High School.

Derrick never married or had children of his own. Derrick had a great smile and was very funny.  He would engage anybody in conversation, no matter what was going on.  He was a hard worker and a go-getter and gave his jobs 100%.  He loved working, always trying to improve himself.  Derrick enrolled in many classes and obtained numerous certificates; just to name a few; culinary, construction, brick layer, paralegal and many more.  He was a very intelligent child, always giving and helping others as much as he could. 

On Friday, October 4, 2024, Derrick departed from this life at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories; his mother, Jeanette (Samuel Jr. Gaskin); father, Edwin McGee; one brother, Edwin Duvall McGee; one sister, Davetta McGee; three nephews, Maliek Evans, Elijah and Eziah McGee; four nieces, Jazymn McGee, Kara, Abree and Adriana; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Derrick loved his family, and he will be greatly missed.
