Derrick J. Smith

Derrick J. Smith was born August 4, 1981. He was born to James D. Smith, Jr. and Jacqueline Banks-Paige. Derrick completed school in the Joliet Public School System and recently obtained his CDL License, with high hopes and dreams to own his own trucking business. Derrck was loved and highly favored among his family and friends and will be deeply missed. His heart was bigger than his chest. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, James F. Smith, Jr. (2014) and Jacqueline L. Smith (1993); maternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Pearlie Banks; paternal grandparents, James Smith, Sr. and Betty Bailey-Smith, sister, Sasha (1976), and brother Lorenzo (1986). 

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, one daughter, and one granddaughter. He is also survived by three sisters: LaShawn Feazell, Tamika (Terrell) Blackmon, and Yvette Parrish; four brothers, James F. Smith, III, Anthony (Carla) Smith, Timothy (Mona) Smith, and Darrel (Jacqueline) Smith; one loving aunt, Mercedes Herring, and three uncles, James Banks, Darryl Smith, Sr., and Arlanis (Jennifer) Smith. Honorary cousin-sisters, Tasha Herring and Jaylyssia Burks and a loving and compassionate significant other, Eyota Cranfield.
