Dorothy Amanda Scott was born on November 28, 1942 to the union of Alvin and Inisher Parish Beamon.
Dorothy received her formal education at Little Hill School in Kosciusko, MS. She accepted Christ as her Savior, and was united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Her family moved to Laurel, MS. There she became a girl wrestler, traveling the South. Then later meeting Elvin Crosby, and to this union, two children were born.
Dorothy departed this life on May 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Inisher Parish Beamon; husband, Henry “Jiggy” Scott; daughter, Felisha Beamon; sister, Willie Mae Beamon Griffin; and brothers, A.J. Beamon and Haywood Beamon.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Edward M. (Sharon) Beamon; grandsons, Keion, Twan, Ryan, and granddaughters, Danielle and Mercedes; sisters, Annie Rae Beamon, Bobbie Beamon, and Virginia (Leonard Jr.) Beamon Moody; brothers, Arthur (Jackie) Beamon, Otha Beamon, and Edward Earl “Doug” Beamon; a very special friend, Sanford; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends.
